Introducing AnalytiChem CRMs

Analytichem introduces a new suite of seven geochemical certified reference materials, designed for global use across government, private, and academic geoanalytical laboratories. These CRMs are ideal for validating “total digest” analytical methods and are indispensable for laboratory quality control programs.

The initial suite features a diverse range of geological rock types, from fresh gabbronorite to oxidized siltstone, addressing a growing demand for high-quality litho-geochemical reference materials. These CRMs are tailored to meet the needs of both commercial and public-sector geoscientists and geochemists, offering reliable standards across various rock types.

Manufactured and certified by us (OREAS) in Australia, these CRMs benefit from advanced production technology ensuring exceptional homogeneity across the range.

Key Features:

  • ISO 17034-accredited Certified Reference Materials;
  • Extremely homogenous due to proprietary milling and blending process;
  • Ideal for using multi-elemental analysis methods – XRF, ICP, INAA, pXRF, LIBS;
  • Packaged in small screw top jars, for easy handling and storage;
  • Comprehensive suite of certified value for up to 58 elements and
  • Additional geochemical characterisation by fusion XRF and Laser ablation with ICP-MS finish.

Geological Highlights:

Basalt (olivine tholeiitic) rock sourced from an operating quarry, located about 25 km north from the city of Melbourne (Victoria, Australia). The basaltic lava flows in the district forms part of the Quaternary age (Ma), Newer Volcanic Province. The mineralogy of this lithology consists of mainly andesine plagioclase (63%) with lesser clinopyroxene (15%) and olivine (6%), minor primary minerals (magnetite, ilmenite, k-feldspar) and secondary minerals (vermiculite, siderite, chlorite and calcite).

Greenstone rock sourced from an operating (Lake Cooper) quarry located about 150 km north from the city of Melbourne (Victoria, Australia). This greyish-green Cambrian aged rock forms part of the Heathcote Greenstone Belt. The mineralogy of this material consists of mainly albite plagioclase (31%), chlorite (16%), augite clinopyroxene (13%) and quartz (10%) with minor epidote, calcic amphibole, magnetite, calcite, dolomite, vermiculite and kaolinite.

Gabbronorite rock sourced from an operating (Black Hill) quarry, located about 85 km east from the city of Adelaide (South Australia). This light grey, Cambro-Ordovician rock forms part of a large gabbroic intrusion. Mineralogy of this material typically consists of mainly sodic labradorite plagioclase (49%), K-feldspar (13%), biotite (11%), augite and hypersthene clinopyroxenes (10%) with minor amounts of dolomite – ankerite (5%), magnetite (4%) quartz (4%) and calcic amphibole (2%).

Flagstone rock sourced from an operating (Mintaro) quarry located about 110km north from the city of Adelaide (South Australia). This medium to dark grey, Proterozoic (~800 Ma) siliclastic sedimentary rock is part of the Mintaro Shale Formation originally deposited in a quiet, relatively deep-water marine (outer shelf) environment. The mineralogy of this rock type consists of mainly quartz (35%), biotite (16%), dolomite (12%), muscovite-sericite (12%) and plagioclase (10%) with minor amounts of chlorite, kaolinite, and calcite.

Andesite rock sourced from an operating (Allandale) quarry located about 40 km northwest from the city of Newcastle (New South Wales, Australia). This light grey, Carboniferous rock forms a small, hydrothermally altered, remnant volcanic (Blair Duguid) inlier within gentle to moderately folded Permian shallow marine sediments of the Sydney Basin. Mineralogy of this material consists of mainly andesine plagioclase (44%), vermiculite, smectite (37%), quartz amygdales (13%) and hypersthene clinopyroxene (3%).

Granodiorite rock sourced from an operating (Oaklands Junction) quarry located about 26 km northwest from the city of Melbourne (Victoria, Australia). This light grey, S-type granitoid rock forms part of the Devonian, Bulla Granodiorite Complex. Mineralogy of this rock type consists of mainly biotite (41%), quartz (33% and plagioclase (17%) with minor K-feldspar, epidote, muscovite and kaolinite.

Siltstone rock sourced from an operating (Donnybrook) quarry located about 29 km north from the city of Melbourne (Victoria, Australia). This very pale orange (moderately weathered) Upper Silurian, siliclastic sedimentary rock is part of the Melbourne Formation originally deposited in a quiet, relatively deep-water marine (outer shelf) environment. Mineralogy of this material consists of predominantly quartz (59%) and muscovite/sericite (23%) with minor vermiculite, phlogopite, plagioclase, K-feldspar and tourmaline. The rock is also anomalous in As, Au, Bi, La, Sb, W and Sn.
